How to Start Getting More Clients from Social Media

Obviously, there are many ways to make money on social media. If you can afford to hire a social media agency to plan your social media strategy, then that is GREAT! I know not everyone can though. I'm not going to be talking about paid ads or a specific strategy that's hard to follow. I want to give you tips on things you can do for free on social media to attract more clients, which leads to making more money!

First off, I'm an introvert and I know how hard showing up on social media is...

Showing up as the face of your brand can be so much easier said than done. Trust me, I know. I used to hate posting photos of myself, writing captions that were anything more than an emoji, networking, the thought of talking on my stories used to feel like my WORST nightmare, and I basically dreaded anything to do with putting myself out there.

BUT I was determined to make my business work. I knew I had to start practicing what I preach. I'm not someone who hires people for a service who doesn't practice what they preach, so how does it make sense for me to talk about showing up as the face of your brand if I'm not doing it myself?

I went from having a pretty weak social media that I didn't get much (if any) inquiries from to having a social media that I do get inquiries from. One thing some of my clients have said to me AFTER I started upping my social media game was "I looked through your posts and I knew you were the person I needed." Do you think anyone was saying that to me before I started actually taking my personal brand and social media seriously? HA, no!

Here is what I started doing that attracted more paid clients from social media:

1. I started posting photos of myself

One of the first things I changed when I started to take my social media more seriously was getting professional photos of myself done more regularly and posting them. People want to see WHO they will be working with, the face behind the brand. Not just random stock photos, infographics, memes, or client photos. Those are all good to have to mix up your content, but people want to see YOU and no, the 1 headshot of you from 7 years ago doesn't count. This goes for if you are the only face of your brand or if you have a small team. Get some team photos and individual photos of everyone on the team.

2. I started being intentional with my captions

ALL of my posts used to just consist of client photos with really basic captions like an emoji or just simply posting a basic little blurb about how fun the photoshoot was. Yes, I still post simple captions and posts sometimes, but I have way more intention on what I'm posting now.

I come up with captions that will speak to my target audience, I incorporate educational content, storytelling, a little content about myself (because I am my brand and you probably are too unless you have a product-only brand), behind the scenes content, posts on how I help my clients, and more. I want to start posting even more types of content like more silly things that I think are funny that would show personality and things like that.

3. I started talking on my stories

Before I started showing up on my stories, the thought of talking on my stories was the most mortifying thing in the world. I put it off for so long. I finally did it and it was no big deal. Just keep in mind that NOBODY will think anything of it. Nobody is going to be thinking "oh my gosh, look at her talking on her stories, how weird!" Think about when you see someone talking on their stories. You probably see it literally every day. Are you thinking anything of it? Judging them? Probably not. If anything, you might even just skip right over it and not even listen to it (lol), so why do we think that others will be judging or thinking negative thoughts about it?

It's not that deep, BUT it's important to show up on your stories for the people who DO want to see what you have to say. You never know. What you say on there could be the deciding factor to someone who has been on the verge of hiring you or buying something from you.

4. I started following and engaging with other business owners in my area

This has actually been really huge for me connecting with people. I don't follow and message people in a spammy way. I genuinely want to get to know the other businesses in the area. I don't message many people, but I do engage with interesting stories or if I think something is funny, etc. I have heard some experts say you should spend some time every day interacting and commenting on posts and stories to help build your connections.

Being consistent, intentional, and showing up on social media has 100% made me more money

If you’re not already, start prioritizing your social media! It will be a game-changer in your business. I know it's a lot of work, but it is really worth it. If you can afford it, hire a social media manager to help you too! Let me know if you need recommendations for that.

PLUS having a consistent stream of professional photos and videos can help take some of the stress away from it since you won't have to be always scrambling for photos to post.
